He is currently the Director of the Health Sciences Simulation Center at San Juan College in NM.".  He is a self-taught pianist with concert-style performance.

Vice President - Desny Wheeless, MT AMT  My name is Desny Wheeless and I was elected to the position of Vice President during the Spring 2005 Meeting held in Albuquerque.
I grew up in Amarillo, Texas and received my associate degree there to become an MLT in 1974. I continued my education and passed exams to become an MT in 1985. I have worked as a laboratory technologist in Amarillo, Grapevine (Texas), Little Rock (Arkansas), and I have worked for Tricore Reference Laboratory at University Hospital here in Albuquerque since I move here in 1993. I have been a bench tech for 30 years and I still love what I do for a living!
I have been a perpetual student. I have my bachelor's degree in forensic anthropology. Back in 2003, I gave nursing school a shot. I decided I liked the laboratory the best and will probably stay in this field until I retire.
In my spare time I like to garden (tomatoes, squash and roses) or sit down with a good science fiction novel. I sew and crochet and share couch potato time with my big white boxer "Casper".
Hope to see lots of new faces, and familiar ones too, at our next NMSSAMT meeting at PIMA in April 2006!
Sincerely,
Desny Wheeless MT-AMT

I have been a registered member of AMT since November 1994 after completing my studies at Ross Medical in Saginaw, MI. I earned my associate's degree from Delta College in Bay City, MI. I worked at St. Mary's and St. Luke's hospitals in Saginaw, MI until December 2001. My family and I then moved to Albuquerque, NM for the warmer climate. In January 2002, I began working as a Medical Assistant at the University of New Mexico Hospital, and was assigned to the children's orthopaedic department at Carrie Tingley Hospital. In 2006, I transferred to the Orthopaedic Sports and Pain Clinics where I enjoy being a member of a great team.
